Fall foliage in the Hudson Valley
People search for a foliage drive. We are not ranking a loop. These are the ridge places already checked here, and the busy-day note each one printed.
Mohonk Preserve
Carriage roads above New Paltz. The listing treats leaf season as busy, and weekend day fees sit above weekdays. Pine Road has been closed for road work since October 13, until further notice, so that lot is not the backup.
River-to-Ridge Trail
The gravel path from Springtown Road to the Preserve line is free. Continuing onto Mohonk Preserve is a separate day fee. The trailhead is not the hotel gate.
Mount Beacon
Scenic Hudson lists the park as free, dawn to dusk. The listing says summer weekends and October foliage fill the trailhead lot. The staircase follows the old incline. The fire tower is the longer walk.
Minnewaska State Park Preserve
The state park on Route 44/55. The park says the lots at Lake Minnewaska and Sam's Point close when they fill on good-weather days. Vehicle entry is $10. Swimming is closed until the 2027 season.
